The meaning of Anna-Maria
Anna-Maria but what does this mean?
Anna-Maria is a name of German origin surprizingly and funny enough its meaning is bitter grace... (Anna being bitter and Maria being grace).
I say surprizingly as i initially assumed the name would be from Espanol or Italiano origins on the grounds of popularity mainly in those regions. Maria being a subset of Mary and the relationship with Catholic church gave some weight to this but hey.
Anyway, what exactly does bitter grace mean? Well grace can be recognised as a disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill or mercy; clemency.. That is for sure some characteristics of my girl interestingly.. Thats kinda her default setting.
ok what about the former bitter? sharp, acrid, unpleasant.
To me, the combined name does not mean anything in English. However, there is the German origins part.. Ok what do theses terms mean in Deutsch combined? What does the name mean in Deutsch? Perhaps thats the answer to the question of the true meaning of Anna-Maria. Lets see..

There is a woman called Anna-Maria and i love her very much.

She comes from a country that is, now and was a major european economic power.
She is well versed in medicine.
